September Workshop Recap

SLATE STUDIO – with the poster showing the original workshop date

September was a crazy busy month for us, preparing for our first big workshop which was a collaboration with Make It Blissful. We were supposed to hold it on September 20, but due to Typhoon Mario, we postponed it to the next weekend.

Martine of Make It Blissful had attended our workshop earlier in the year, and because her blog is about “bliss-making,” we were eager to partner with her to help people tell their own stories in a tangible way. Too often we’re caught up in the digital universe on a daily basis, and we’re so thrilled that so many ladies — 20 in total! — spent time with us, kicking it old school and going back to analog memory-keeping. Our biggest workshop yet!

Martine gave a short introduction about our collaboration and her thoughts on unplugging and finding the bliss in everyday life — and documenting that bliss via the Project Life system. She also gave away this exclusive LDM x Make It Blissful card set that we designed for this workshop.

We always make it a point to let our participants try out the brands that we love and use ourselves. All the products in our shop, and all the tools and materials that we make available to our participants at workshops are our personal recommendations. Because of this philosophy, we’re super excited that the following brands participated at this workshop:

Bayani Brew

Cookie Bar Manila

Thank you so much for your support!

As always, we began with a short lecture portion. Afterwards, while other participants got comfortable with their starter kits, we helped a few print their photos on the spot courtesy of Canon’s Pixma printers.

As mentioned above, at every workshop we have materials available for participants to try. We’re really impressed at how quickly the participants picked up certain techniques that we demonstrated. After a few minutes, they didn’t even need our guidance. So proud!!

While everyone was working, we were able to go around a couple of times to check on their progress. Happy to report that everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and were slowly getting into the flow of scrapbooking.

At the end of every workshop we encourage participants to share a little bit about their album. It’s always fun for us to hear the different themes since we always say the pocket scrapbooking system can adapt to any topic, any story.

It was honestly nerve-wracking for us to learn that we had a wide age range of participants. Our youngest was in high school (13 years old, our youngest participant ever!) and there were a few moms also. Thankfully, Project Life seemed to work for both age groups, and everyone in between!

We love it when participants are all friends! Here is a barkada of 3 whose idea of Saturday bonding was an arts and crafts workshop 🙂

Thanks to Canon, we were also able to print the class photo on the spot as a bonus gift. Our official photographer, Kris, took the class photo. She copied the photo from her camera’s SD card to one of the laptops onsite, then easily printed copies for everyone.
