Time for another look at my Project Life spreads! I initially lined up another spread to share, but I changed my mind at the last minute. I ended up taking a longer time than usual to finish a spread. I told Pinky I was once again overthinking — not a good sign, and not a good way to assemble a page.
My plan was simple: use several sheets of patterned paper I cut down to 4×6 size in an entire spread. Easy, and doable? Yes, it should be.
as you can see, no dates yet. Haven’t quite figured out how i want to include period covered in week 28.
Last week, I read Ali’s post and some of the lines she wrote resonated with me. I took note of those lines and decided to incorporate it in my spread for the week.
I apologize for the bad quality of the photos. I didn’t get to take photos while it was still sunny this morning, and once the rain started to pour it was just dark and gloomy the entire day. I’ll try to provide better photos later.
Week 28 (July 7 – 13) LEFT SIDE:
From the 12×12 patterned paper I cut down to 4×6, I chose two colors I wanted to use (purple, navy) and added a neutral color so the spread wouldn’t be too dark.
I used the neutral paper as base for journal cards, and stamped words and lines on each one:
JOURNAL CARD WITH A WEEK IN REVIEW IN LIST FORMAT
This one took time because I couldn’t decide how to add the journal block. Eh. The white card I used isn’t sitting well with me. I don’t love it THAT MUCH not to change it, but for now it’s done. I need to remind myself that done is better than nothing.
I’m still watching the World Cup 2014 matches, although no longer very emotionally invested, so I had to include the semi final winners in my spread. I’m not getting enough sleep due to football so I might as well include it 🙂
i JUST SEARCHED ON GOOGLE FOR HI-RES IMAGES FROM EACH MATCH AND CHOSE THE ONES I LIKED. BETWEEN YOU AND ME, THESE WOULD LOOK SO MUCH BETTER IN LARGER SIZES. Y’NOW. THESE PLAYERS ARE NOT BAD TO LOOK AT. NOT AT ALL. HAHA!
Week 28 (July 7 – 13) INSERT
One day last week, the Internet exploded with updates from the wizarding world, thanks to a certain Rita Skeeter. I knew I wanted to include it in my PL. Instead of printing on plain white paper or white card stock, or even parchment-style paper (for wizarding world effect), I decided to use vellum.
I copied part of the text and made it fit in a 4×6 canvas on Photoshop (Yep, gotta learn InDesign). I wanted to use three 4×6 pockets at most, so I only copied the text that fit in three 4×6-sized canvas.
I took a screenshot of the Daily Prophet (accessed by logging in to my Pottermore account) and slipped it in the two 3×4 pockets. If you notice, the screenshot isn’t quite 4inches high. No big deal.
Week 28 (July 7 – 13) RIGHT SIDE
AGAIN, A LITTLE IFFY WITH THE WHITE CARD I USED AS A JOURNAL SPACE IN THE TOP LEFT POCKET. IT WILL STAY FOR NOW, UNTIL I FIGURE OUT HOW I’LL CHANGE IT.
I won’t scare you by posting a close-up of my lovely “tissue in my nose” photo (hahaha), but I just had about enough of my cold! Ugh. I hate getting sick.
Closer looks at some of the pockets:
feed me was stamped and embossed. it doesn’t look very clean as i was unable to shake off some of the embossing powder. i used a white uniball signo pen to write the text in white ink. couldn’t find the one with a fine tip, so this was written with the broad tip pen.
I used one of the neutral patterned papers as base again, and stamped DELICIOUS all over the card, and some lines for journaling.
For this one, I just adhered the photo to the patterned paper and stamped some journal lines. this is good stuff was stamped on white cardstock then I used a circle punch.
Lastly, this is one of my favorite parts from the spread:
The left pocket is that plain because I slipped in a smaller piece of paper at the back for some “hidden journaling,” that I don’t really want most people to easily read if they see my album. I haven’t decided if I want to put a tab on top to remind me that there’s something behind the card, or if I want to use something else.
The right pocket is my version of a filler card with a quote. The words are still from Ali’s post and I really had to include it. It’s so true, isn’t it?
Again, this spread took me longer than expected to complete, mainly because I thought about each pocket too much! For week where nothing major really happened, I ended up still documenting different things. I didn’t use a single 4×6 photo, almost all were smaller-sized photos that I adhered to patterned paper. This definitely takes more time versus just slipping in a 4×6 or 3×4 sized photo. Why do I do this to myself?!
p.s. Today, typhoon Ramasun (local name: Glenda) started wreaking havoc in the Philippines. This typhoon is pretty strong with winds up to 180kph. It won’t hit Metro Manila, where I live, until early morning. Would appreciate it if you keep us in your thoughts, or say a prayer.
