I always say that Jade is my favorite kit, and I am a huge fan of the kit designer, Lili Niclass. I love her work! Jade is my favorite kit primarily because the kit has a cohesive design, from the color palette, patterns, up to the type used. There’s hardly any card that I pick up and go, “this doesn’t belong here.” Walang tapon. I won’t throw out any card.
As a scrapper with hoarding tendencies, I resisted the urge to use my Jade kit at first. I thought, “Oh, but the cards are so pretty! Sayang!” But what good will it do to me if I just hoard these cards and let them sit in a box?!
I particularly love this shade of green so i used it as a title card. i used chipboard thickers with a cork design to spell out “week 9” and instead of using a roller date stamp, i just wrote down the dates of week 9.
A lot happened this week. My usual dilemma is choosing photos to use in a spread because I usually take too many photos. I remember last year, I mentioned that I worried about not having enough photos for a 12×12 weekly spread, and Christine noted, “but you do take a lot of photos!” I really do. I think it’s out of habit, and something I used to do even before owning a smartphone.
There was this day when a huge burden was lifted off my shoulders. I didn’t know how else to explain it in my album, so I chose a photo I took (#fromwhereistand) after an important meeting. The filler card on the left was left blank for a long time, but I had a Post-It attached saying “print or write GRATEFUL.” I used my Silhouette to cut the words out, but I ended up not liking it, so I just used my favorite embellishments: alpha stickers.
Here’s a full look at the left side of my Week 9 spread:
i didn’t mind using more than one photo with my best friends — one flew in to manila for a short holiday and we cherish all our time with each other.
the smaller photos in b&w were converted from the color versions because the quality was not so great. i made the photos smaller to fit in a 3×4 canvas before printing.
This is the right side of my Week 9 spread:
Instead of having a journal card to chronicle each event I wanted to highlight that week, I decided to use more photos and just make a list of what happened. Again, making lists is a good way to journal if you’re not comfortable with writing in your album, or if you would rather keep more personal stories to your private journal.
HOW DORKY AM I FOR POSING WITH MY COPY OF ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY? ALL FOR LOVE.
On to Week 23:
DATE IS MISSING A HYPHEN, IT SHOULD BE 2-8. I HAVEN’T CUT A HYPHEN FROM LEFTOVER STICKERS YET.
Left side, Week 23 spread:
Again, too many photos I wanted to use this week! I could have easily added an insert, but I also wanted to challenge myself if I can choose from all the photos I highlighted to use this week.
I think it’s a successful challenge, as I was able to choose photos from what I wanted to remember: visit from my nephew, my brother getting his driver’s permit, documenting my new favorite nail polish (Zoya in Godiva), burning incense for the house, and Taylor Swift’s concert!
I’m also toying with the idea of using this type of page protector more often (4×4 and 3×4 pockets only).
THE RIGHTMOST 3X4 CARD SHOULD HAVE A QUOTE FROM TAYLOR SWIFT. I HAVEN’T FINALIZED IF IT WOULD BE A LINE FROM ONE OF HER SONGS, OR ONE OF THE THINGS SHE SAID DURING THE CONCERT.
Right side, Week 23 spread: A lot happened this weekend, and I worried how I was going to break it down. I knew I wanted a photo of me with my barkada on a momentous occasion so I made sure to print that big – 4×6.
I didn’t mean for it to be this way, but half of this right side spread chronicles Saturday events, and the right is all about Sunday. Love how it came out balanced even if I used a lot of photos!
love that my friend kate loves to take photos, too. she’s shown interest in project life, so here’s hoping she starts her own album soon.
INSTEAD OF CHOOSING A PHOTO OF PINKY & MYSELF FROM THE TAYLOR SWIFT CONCERT, I CHOSE THIS. WE RANDOMLY SAW EACH OTHER AT DINNER. IT WAS SO FUNNY BECAUSE I DIDN’T SEE HER AT FIRST — I GUESS I WAS THAT HUNGRY AND I JUST KEPT THINKING: “I WANT TO ORDER. I’M HUNGRY!” we took this photo and sent it to ch!
Earlier that day, I watched The Fault In Our Stars. For a change, I didn’t include the movie ticket or a photo of the movie poster (with the actors seen). Initially, I thought I would write more text on the photo, but I had too many thoughts. I can save all those words for a separate blog post about the movie, and thoughts on the book vs. movie.
Expect to see more of the Jade kit in my album 🙂
If you want to use the Jade edition in your Project Life album, it’s available in our shop.
