Yam’s Life Documented Project: Travel

I’ve been meaning to put together a mini album about some of my trips this year. Using Life Documented Manila’s Project Kit and a few items from my own stash, here’s a peek at my current project:

My plan was to keep it simple so I can get it done faster. The cards I chose are from the Travel edition of the Becky Higgins Project Life Kit and I just printed my photos in three sizes: 4×6, 3×4 and 4×4. I could have made it even simpler by printing just 4×6 size photos but I wanted some photos to be smaller so I could put them in the different size pockets of the plastic page protectors.

I booked a trip to KL with my friend so we could watch the concert of one of our favorite Korean groups. It was a really quick trip and as we planned our itinerary we ended up wishing we had an extra day so we could eat at all the places on our list.

I collected a few ephemera such as name cards/business cards, bookmarks, maps, and tags, but I didn’t use it all. In the photo of the spread above, you can see that I just slipped in the Ippudo Malaysia card. My journaling on the card on its right side is all about our search for a good dinner that day. The Ippudo card was a good way to remember our yummy meal even without showing any photo of my bowl of ramen, or a photo of us at the restaurant.

Photos were taken using my iPhone, Instax Mini, and digital camera. I didn’t bring all three at the same time while going around the city, except on the day of the concert.

I loved our photos by the graffiti walls so much that I didn’t want to put any other embellishments or extra stickers. The photos are already so colorful and can stand on their own.

A filler card (TODAY IS GOOD) was used on the right side, but I also wanted to include a bit of journaling about our experience upon arrival at the venue, so I wrote directly on the photo again!

I was able to slip in the concert ticket in the 4×6 pocket. I don’t have to worry about losing it in my box of memorabilia! On one card I wrote in list form some of the things I wanted to remember from the concert, since we had some funny experiences along the way.

The cards and the pocket-style page protectors really make the memory-keeping process so easy! Beginners or first-time scrapbookers will be able to do several pages.

What I like about these spreads: With my memories written down on the journal cards and a selection of  favorite photos printed, it’s so easy for me to look back and remember what happened. I can easily add other cards and memorabilia if I want to.

Additional supplies used: mini alpha stickers, enamel dot stickers, washi tape, patterned paper

  1. Hi!! I love how simple you kept everything.
I just finished one city of my mini travel book, and I couldn’t help myself with the layers and embellishments. I think the old school scrapper in me is winning over the “wanting to keep everything nice and clean”. bookmarking your blog to see more of your stuff!
thanks for the welcome at SC!
